Delay with uploading work onto my blog.
By Midnight trailer, changes...
We made changes to the video using people feedback. This is because once we had created the trailer we noticed that we had the green screen at the end of the trailer instead of the beginning so decided to go back and change this.
My Film Trailer "By Midnight"
My Film magazine front cover "By Midnight"
The colour scheme red, yellow and black also makes the magazine edgy and stands out from other magazines drawing people's eye onto the front cover.
My Film Poster "By Midnight"
When creating this film poster by midnight i looked at others to get a style model, i found that film posters are quite plain and don't include too much information, making it easy for people to read walking past.

Music which may be used...
I looked at other films which use the style we will be creating and can follow how they used sound and music to create the trailer and give it a lot of impact.
We looked at Die Hard 4 trailer, which uses some sharp sounds to create effect of bad things happen sometimes when not expected. Please watch this and make any comments if you wish.
Actors list
List of shots that may be used
Close ups - these are used to show the feelings of a character or something important like an object.
medium shot - this is used to show half of the subject for example the character from the waist up.
long shot - this shows the whole character.
establishing shot - this normally is used at the start of a scene and shows where the scene is, for example set at a train station will show the atmosphere and trains coming in.
reaction shot - which shows the reactions of people's words on people around them.
I will try to use all of these at one point of my trailer, this will show my techniques. There are also many camera angles that i will you when creating my trailer, these are:
high angle shot - this shows everything above eye level creating a sense of power to the audience and making characters seem helpless and weak.
eye level - neutral showing everyone is equal.
low angle - looking up at the character, gives people the impression of a strong leader, powerful.
These are just a few that i will use when creating my trailer. The camera has different movements which i may also use in my trailer, these are:
Tracking - this is when the camera follows the subject, for example follows the character walking, camera moves left to track them.
Dollying - this is when the camera's position changes by moving forward or backwards.
Panning - when the camera stays in the same position but moves left or right, this can show people around them or the scenery.
Tilting - when the camera moves up or down, for example the camera looks up at the sky.
Zoom in/ Zoom out - this is when the character focuses on something and can zoom into it for example zooms into ring on characters finger then zooms back out.
I will use most of these when creating my film trailer.

analysis of front cover of film magazine Public Enemies...
- The Empire title is brand loyalty this is the same for every magazine issue created which allows people to quickly identify this magazine from others as well as making people feel as if it is a trustworthy brand.
- Picture of Johnny Depp wearing a suit and holding a gun shows him to be a gangster again attracting the male audience.
- Johnny Depp attractive for women
- Date and Price of magazine is included in small print showing it isn't as important
- mist/ smoke used to create fear or tension, re-enforces the genre and is used in all three the trailer, poster and magazine front cover could be a key issue.
- Buzz words such as "First Look" are used again to entice the audience to pick this magazine over any other.
- Other movies mentioned to make the audience wider so people can read about other great films.
Analysis of film Trailer Public Enemies
I analysed the film trailer Public Enemies i feel this trailer meets the type of genre that i would like to do when creating mine.
Public Enemies trailer included:
- distributor Universal was shown at the very start - type of brand loyalty, people trust this company.
- old type plane with the date 1933, this sets the scene
- black and white at start also shows the date.
- 'spooky' non diegetic music, indicates the genre almost sounds like bond style music.
- Mise en scene characters carrying guns and wearing uniforms.
- cuts with text appearing on the screen telling the storyline
- speeding cars, a lot of firing of the guns suggests a male target audience
- then shows other movies that the makers have made for example 'Collateral'
- attractive girl is shown this appeals to men, although it seems to be a romance which makes the audience wider with more females liking romance.
- main character is in every scene
- close up of characters and names of big stars in this film
- fades from one character to the other, introducing the main stars
- title of the film comes at the end, with a last shot of the main character re-loading his gun then a flash suggesting a gun shot and director titles are shown.
- coming soon written at the very end shows people having to wait for the film.
Analysis of film poster Public Enemies...
- Main character attractive appeals to female audience
- holding a weapon appeals to the male audience indicates fighting
- Mise-en-scene the male wearing a suit shows more about the genre, perhaps gangster.
- distributors and production company in small at the bottom shows them to be less important and showing how people are attracted to more of the star, genre and plot than who produces the film.
- the main title, stars and date of release is in bold and stands out this entices the audience and informs them of when the film is out etc.
- the setting shows tall buildings and american flag, seems like it could be the financial district showing wealth.
- the old cars and everything in black and white sets the era of the film
- the use of mist/ smoke creates a sense of fear again relates to the genre.

Start of research
I have been looking at posters, film magazine covers and trailers of certain films and brands are included in all. For example in Shrek there is an image of an ‘S’ with ears included, this is added into every poster, trailer and magazine cover, this helps to represent the film and the logo becomes well known. Another example is the Superman logo which is featured in all posters, magazine covers and trailers. This is always shown as it is worn on the main character all the way through the film and is heavily dependent on its branding. Its enemy Batman wears a different logo and is also heavily dependant on its logo. So in my media film I know to make a brand and include it in my poster, trailer and magazine cover.
What will be your biggest challenge?
My challenge will be creating a short trailer which entices people to see a film. I think I will struggle shortening my film down as I don’t want to give away too much information, but make sure it is good enough to attract a big audience.
What is your next step?
My next step is to get my questionnaire filled in and find out what my target audience want. I will also complete analysis of film trailers, posters and the front cover of magazines.
My Project Brief
My intentions of the project are to create a successful trailer, poster and magazine cover which will entice the audience to come and see the film. I need to make sure I meet my target audience. A way to check that I meet my target audience is to create a questionnaire and find out what my audience likes in films.
First I intend to create a questionnaire to find out what my intended audience want in a film and also what genre most people would be interested in round this time of year.
For my research I will create a questionnaire which will help me find out a lot about my target audience. I will also study a lot of film trailers so I can get information and find out what is included in trailers; for example distributor’s names, voice overs and what types of cuts are used.
